XAU EXCLUSIVE / RISK GUIDE

Position sizing by account balance.

Use this table as a starting point for choosing a proportional XAUUSD lot size by risk level. Position sizing is one of the few parts of trading you fully control — getting it right matters more than getting any single signal right.

UNDERSTANDING THE TIERS

Which tier is right for you?

Match the tier to your balance, experience, and personal tolerance for drawdown — not to what feels exciting.

High

Larger position sizes relative to balance. Suited to experienced traders comfortable with bigger swings in equity.

Mid

A balanced default. Moderate exposure per trade that suits most account sizes and experience levels.

Low

Conservative sizing focused on capital preservation, smaller accounts, or a lower tolerance for drawdown.

THE TABLE

Suggested lot sizes

Figures are a starting point by account balance. Round down to the nearest row if your balance falls between two figures.

Important. Lot sizes are a guide, not a guarantee. They assume a single open position at a time and do not account for your broker's specific margin requirements, spread, or leverage. Trading involves risk of loss. Consider your own circumstances and seek independent advice where appropriate.

A FEW GROUND RULES

Using the guide well

Position sizing only works if it's applied consistently — a few habits that keep it useful.

One position at a time

The table assumes a single open trade. Stacking multiple positions changes your real exposure.

Re-check as your balance changes

Your account balance moves. Revisit the table rather than sizing off a figure from last month.

Stay in your tier

Mixing tiers trade-to-trade defeats the purpose. Pick one and stay consistent unless your circumstances change.

Ask if you're unsure

If a figure doesn't make sense for your broker or account type, raise it on your next enquiry call.

NEXT STEP
